The Best Infographics Communicate Information in an Intuitive and Beautiful Way

For its 70th anniversary, the Institut National de Recherche Agronomique designed a timeline that shows their history through an interactive journey. Compared to traditional timelines, this one stood out because of its unique display and responsive capabilities. The timeline has been designed to emulate a strand of DNA; A touch of parallax, shimmering streams of light and floating particles give the site motion.


As the user hovers over parts of the timeline, pieces of it move forward and expand, revealing additional information as part of an embedded navigation. Each embedded button is color-coded, providing additional visual stimulation as the user scrolls through the timeline.


Clicking on the embedded navigation initiates a very interesting page transition. These transitions take the user to detail pages hidden within the timeline. The pages are image-based and provide short scientific facts and descriptions. Each image corresponds with the color shown while hovering on the main timeline.
