Site Of The Week: Visit Milwaukee
By Gwen LaderApril 30, 2018

Visit Milwaukee is a website geared toward several audiences with the goal of jumpstarting the growing positive perception of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First impressions of a site are critical to how a visitor views the city.
The homepage introduces the user to the site and Milwaukee. It allows users to interact with graphics and discover a more playful side of the city. Did you know it's the "Birthplace of the Cheesehead?"
The user experience is one of ease, education, and functionality. It acts not only as an education tool but also a trip planner. The “My Trip” tool on the left is always present and helps users plan their itineraries by gathering, organizing and personally curating items of interest they discover throughout the website.
My favorite detail of the site is the Neighborhoods map. The user can hover over each neighborhood on a map and highlighted information would reveal to the right indicating shops, restaurants, and sites in that particular area. You can also delve further into the neighborhood from here or from the top navigation. This site makes me want to visit Milwaukee, a sentence I never thought I'd say.
