Maximize your video advertising using WirewaxBy Gene Shaffer

Wirewax is a UK start-up that has created an interactive video tool that allows users to upload videos through their online, cloud-based platform. From there the user adds hotspots to their video, which can be attached to people, animals or objects in the video. Making the video clickable, and thus interactive. It’s up to you what the hotspots will link to. We’ve seen similar tech on simple YouTube videos where links pop up on your video directing you to another movie or website. Wirewax takes this to another level. Not only can the hotspots be vastly more creative but they can also link content directly inside the video. The technique, according to their site, has proven to increase engagement as well as create an immersive experience.
So far, some of the largest advocates of this software are online stores and television/movie trailer organizations. Using this tool, a clothing store might produce a video of a model walking a runway, wearing a beautiful piece of jewelry. At a certain point, the video may then reveal a place to purchase this item. When the user clicks the spot the video pauses and more information about the product they selected displays on the screen. This same premise is conducive to television and movies as these clickable sections can reveal additional content or behind the scenes footage. When you click on the invitation the movie pauses and new media displays for you to engage. Closing out the panels in both instances resumes the original video content.
Wirewax doesn’t stop there. Although you are fully free to create your own content, Wirewax has a variety of services to help take your interactive video to the next level.
I can immediately see the benefit of creating interactive videos for our clients. I believe this could best be implemented within the Bio or Service areas of a professional service industry website. This is a very cool process, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this catch on in the future.
