Looking to Take a Peak at Our App of the Week?By Greenfield/Belser
November 21, 2014
Two days ago, I sat down to research how online technologies can negatively influence business growth and development. I ultimately ended up spending 45 minutes checking Facebook, Reddit and Yahoo news. How I ended up so far off topic, I couldn’t tell you, but I do believe that the experience hints at an underlining problem in today’s society—an ever-declining attention span. In fact, just recently scientists determined that the average human attention span has decreased from 12 seconds in 2000, to 8 seconds in 2013, placing us on par with that of the household goldfish. Despite this tragedy, there is hope for us in the form of a free app called Peak.
Peak is an application that capitalizes on the brain’s unfulfilled craving for critical thinking processes. It supplies its user with 20 detail-oriented games, broken down into five categories consisting of Memory, Focus, Problem Solving, Mental Agility and Language. Each category gives the user an independent series of games that are meant to test, challenge and push the user to excel. Peak then tracks these results and compiles them into a very sleek infographic that the user can send to friends or show off and post on their own profile. Additionally, it doesn’t require data or wifi usage, which means easier accessibility regardless of time or location.
Ultimately, this app is meant to keep your brain active and on edge. It’s meant to keep you refreshed. And it’s just meant to keep you thinking outside of the box. It’s perfect for those who work in design or development fields because it helps stir the mental pot and gets the creative juices flowing. I suggest you take a look at Peak as it is free for the moment. This could change any day now so take advantage and download it from iTunes today!
