Taking Locations to New Heights

As an avid traveler, nothing excites me more than inspiration to visit (or re-visit) incredible places around the world.

I stumbled upon View From Above, a joint effort from Emirates and Boeing, that packages user interaction, stunning videography and a clever concept, into one beautiful travel experience. 


The site is incredibly simple in its presentation—pick any "pinned" location on a realistic spinning globe and you'll be brought to that location's detail page. The only thing to do after that is plug in your headphones and watch a captivating video highlighting the beauty of each location in 2-5 minutes. Panama, Norway, Japan, the pick. All videos were filmed using drones. Shots are captured that would have been extremely expensive in the past, if not impossible. 


Be transported to stunning places with a quick click of the mouse. 

Interacting with this site made me realize how wonderful the use of video can be, especially when you start to consider Location pages or Career pages on firm sites. What if, instead of picking from a list of offices for a firm, you are presented with a globe that truly highlights the reach that firm has across the country, or the world. Imagine watching a quick video about that office, or that city and its culture, instead of reading about it in a paragraph. Simple, inspiring videography like that in View From Above is now within reach, where before it was considered a lofty, expensive concept. Food for thought...
