Here at Greenfield/Belser, we often emphasize building a unique identity based on a promise of value different than others. It is, in our eyes, the cornerstone of a great brand, one that can distinguish itself within the industry. This idea does not only apply to big (or small) businesses, it also applies to individuals as they attempt to define their craft, build a following and acquire recognition. Those with effective brands often acknowledge that success does not come solely from one source. It’s the culmination of an innovative brand that transcends and is carried through a variety of marketing verticals. It’s creating a consistent brand promise that is displayed not only on your webpage, but also through your stationary, your advertising, your brochure systems and other marketing materials. At its core, creating an effective brand is about building a voice that stands out. And that is exactly what Kontra K (a german rapper) has done with his latest live action music video experience. For that reason, we have selected his site for our Site of the Week.
The feature that makes Kontra K's site stand out is its use of video. Unlike other video-based sites, Kontra K’s displays two videos that play simultaneously and switch back and forth at the push of the space bar. Both videos are shot in such a way that moving between them feels like a natural jump cut in a professional film. Stylistically speaking, the videos are stunning. They tell the story of a young man and woman running from an angry mob (Video 1), and an older gentleman following their path of destruction (Video 2). Kontra K’s music, acts as the perfect soundtrack to the video. It's a lovely experience.
As mentioned on our site, there is a difference between video and great video. In the context of professional service firms, video, when done right, holds promise for the delivery of bios, service pages, industry pages, firm overviews and thought leadership. They can be engaging, memorable and used to supplement typically text heavy content. Be sure to check out Kontra K’s site, and our video services page if you are interested in developing great video content.
