Kirkland & Ellis and McGuire Woods launch new websites, totaling 12 new AMLAW 100 websites in 2018By Joe Walsh

Kirkland now looks the part of modern leader online and reflects the patina of a top performing law firm brand. For a firm that routinely wins industry and peer accolades for performance and leadership (including the American Lawyer 2018 Firm of the Year), the new is a good thing. In look and feel, it reminds us of McKinsey. On the content side, we like the Alumni section of the site and its series of Alumni Journey videos. Each speaks to Kirkland’s strategic commitment to connecting colleagues—present and past—to opportunities through Kirkland’s CareerLink program. We also like the visual/scrolling locations page of the website.
There’s a lot to like about mcguirewoods.com. For starters, we like the big picture topics on the rotating home page—they remind us of journalistic storytelling. The subjects are not limited to firm news, per se. The topics are areas where the firm and its people are making a demonstrable difference. These initiatives are described succinctly, like in journalism, with the help of a good editor. Other things that catch our eyes: 1) the professional bios and bio photography and 2) practice/industry pages that minimize copy while maximizing the space dedicated to what the firm has been up to in these areas.
