Innovation and the Politics of Brands Event Recap

What an excellent roundtable discussion at AdWeek’s INOV8 event in Washington, DC yesterday. Our very own Burkey Belser moderated the discussion on Innovation and the Politics of Brands alongside AARP’s VP of Social Communications, Alejandra Owens, former CMO of Philips Lighting, Scott Martin and &pizza’s Creative Director, Heidi Guerard.

Burkey led this group of industry leaders in discussing how their organizations are taking public stands on the some of the most important social issues happening today like gun control, LGBT rights and immigration. They discussed what goes on behind-the-scenes when deciding when and how to take a stand, how to make a political statement while staying true to your customer base AND brand (and when that doesn’t matter), what tactics are put in place to best get your message out and how success can be measured.
