Do You Value Your Spare Time?

Do You Value Your Spare Time?

Everyone likes an entertaining app or an interesting (and short!) survey. The website How Much Is Your Spare Time Worth? is really a fun combination of the two. The purpose of the site is to calculate, based on your input, how much value you assign to your free time. It’s short (only seven questions) and provides some food for thought along the way.

The end result is something most people would find of interest, but the graphics and interactive animation are what make this site extremely engaging. Each question is portrayed differently with unique interactions and movements. None are really the same. For example, question #2 asks “For how long would you be willing to stand in line for a $100 gift certificate?” The user is then prompted to drag an image of a man in line to the appropriate wait time. This simple engagement action makes this question interesting to consider and to answer.

Question #6 asks, “You’re waiting for a bus that won’t arrive for another two hours when a taxi pulls up. What is the maximum amount you’d be willing to pay for a ride home?” To submit an answer, the user spins a little taxi icon around a wheel representing a cityscape, until the appropriate dollar amount is reached.

At the end, there is an hourly dollar figure assigned to how much you value your spare time, based on your previous answers, along with a brief analysis. It’s all in good fun, very quick, very light-hearted. We definitely suggest you take a spin through for yourself!
