An App That’s Just Your Type

An App That’s Just Your Type

As creatives, our studio deals with fonts every single day. Imagine our delight when I stumbled upon iFontMaker earlier this morning. If you couldn’t guess by the name, iFontMaker is a mobile app that does exactly what its title advertises. It allows you to handcraft your very own fonts. This app allows you to skip purchasing expensive programs such as Adobe Illustrator and create unique typefaces. It also allows you to bypass searching for the perfect type of font on websites such as Google Fonts or Now, to quote Walt Disney for a moment— “If you can dream it, you can do it.”

iFontMaker uses your device’s touch features to edit 62 different alphabet and numeric characters. Once your font has been designed, it can then be exported as a .TIFF file for free over any Wi-Fi or internet-based connection. Finished fonts can then be used with any Adobe and/or Microsoft program such as InDesign, PowerPoint or Word. Currently you can purchase this app on both the Windows and iTunes App stores. For Windows users, the iFontMaker comes with a price tag of $4.99. For Apple users, iFontMaker can only be used on the iPad and can be purchased for $6.99.

This app would be a fantastic addition to anyone looking to expand his or her creative horizon, save some money and/or add some character to his or her text. Take some time and purchase iFontMaker today.
